Skylands wins tough contest against Maine, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Skylands escaped with a 3-2 victory over Maine.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cole Skelly secured the win for Skylands with a goal in the third period.

Skylands was sparked by Skelly, who registered one goal. Skelly scored 19:16 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Skylands.

Skylands stifled Maine\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Skylands\’ offense rang up 44 shots on Maine\’s net.

Skylands additionally got points from Hunter Ledwith, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cory Decosta also scored for Skylands.

Maine put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Skylands to score on any of its three power plays. Maine kept Skylands\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Bartholomew made 30 saves on 32 shots.

Maine was helped by Ryan Sussman, who racked up one goal. Sussman scored 11:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Greg Terlov assisted on the tally. Maine also got points from Jordy Knoren, who also had one goal and one assist.

Skylands incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Daigle recorded 41 saves for Maine. Maine incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
