October 28, 2016 – The Maine Wild, who were still seeking their first win of the season, hosted the East Coast Minutemen Friday night in their only game of the weekend. The East Coast Minutemen were also seeking their first win with both teams coming into Friday nights game 0-4. The Wild opened up the scoring with the only goal goal of the period coming late in the period by Reagan Wintle and an assist by Cameron Bisson. The Minutemen would respond with the sole goal halfway through the 2nd, coming from Nikolai Bazhenov, assisted by Dan Palen and Albert Wiggins. The Wild, hungry to get that first win, netted a goal early in the 3rd by Evgeni Semeniuk, assisted by Kyle Sikora and Daniel Avdioukin. The Minutemen were able to tie the game at 2 a piece 16:12 into the third with a goal by Kyle Harding, from Alex Dipadua. Forcing Overtime, Maine’s Reagan Wintle put home his second goal of the night, this time unassisted, to give the Wild their first win of the season. Brayden McGary gets the win in net for the Wild turning away 22 or 24 shots.
The Wild and Minutemen have a rematch next weekend Saturday, Oct. 1st at 5:30p at Essex Sports Center. The Wild then travel to The L/A Fighting spirit on Sunday Oct 2nd for a 2:00p puck drop at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
