The Maine Wild traveled to the Syracuse Stampede this past weekend where the two teams met for the 2nd and final times of the regular season. The Stampede traveled to Maine back in September taking both games of the Weekend series.
Saturday night’s game would start with the Stampede getting a 2 goal lead on the Wild. The Wild would respond getting the next two goals coming from Jordan Tieken and Reagan Wintle. Syracuse would notch 1 more goal in the 1st to give them a 3-2 lead going in to the 2nd. Syracuse would extend their lead to 2 in the 2nd. Dylan Demers would bring the Wild within 1 just 4:39 in to the 3rd. Unfortunately, the Wild’s scoring would stop there and they would fall short by 1 goal to the Stampede.
The Wild came out flying Sunday eager to leave with some points on the weekend. Reagan Wintle would find the back of the net just 0:49 in. Zach Gagne would extend the Wild’s lead to 2 just minutes later with assists going to Derek Erbe and Tucker Twardosky. Syracuse would show the Wild that they would not go down easy, scoring 2 goals in the 1st minute of the 2nd period. Maine would regain the lead, this time it would be Dean Pratt scoring for the Wild. The 3rd period would be all Maine scoring 2 goals in the first minute by Tucker Twardosky and Kyle Sikora. Lema Muradov and Evgeni Semeniuk would also score to close out Maine’s 7-2 victory over the Stampede. Brayden McGary got the “W” in net for Maine stopping 30 or 32 shots.
“The weekend saw us play 2 hard fought games. We got off to a slow start in game one, then ran into strong goaltending. It was one we could have had. Sundays game saw a complete effort out of all the boys. We were strong in our zone and had timely goaltending, by Brayden, which allowed us to pull away in the third period. This weekend is huge for us with 3 games in three days. At East Coast Friday afternoon. Then we are home vs. Long Beach Saturday and Sunday” – Head Coach Jack Lowry
The Wild are back in action with a busy weekend.
