Late goal helps the Wild defeat the Wildcats 5-4

Mason Ledbetter scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Maine Wild defeat the the Jersey Shore Wildcats 5-4 in a home game at Jersey Shore Arena in Maine. What's more, the Maine Wild's offense had a big night, peppering the Wildcats with 29 shots throughout the game.

Mason Ledbetter chipped in with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Matthew Brown delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Antonio Filippello had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 goals and Zack Mullen contributed with 3 assists.

During the first period, Dorman opened the scoring for Maine with a goal at 11:00 with helpers from his teammates Lavoie and Ledbetter. Randall answered for the Wildcats with a goal at 16:42 with a helper from his linemate Mullen. Filippello quickly followed with a goal at 17:54 with an assist from Mullen.

In the second period, Filippello scored a goal at 16:28 with an assist from Mullen.

During the third, Brown answered for Maine with a goal at 1:19 with helpers from Dvornik and Shestakov. Ventura quickly followed with a goal at 2:02 with a helper from defenseman Dzhangarashev. Tieken answered for the Wild with a goal at 13:10 with an assist from his linemate Baxter. Ledbetter deposited a goal at 16:09 with a helper from defenseman Brown. Ledbetter put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 19:04 with an assist from defenseman Brown.

Maine’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Jenkins’ big night as he stopped 44 of the 48 shots he faced. On the other hand, Jenkins’ counterpart, Anastasia, and the Wildcats’ defense did not have such a great night stopping only 24 of 29 shots.

This win brings the Maine Wild’s record to (17-28-3-0).
